A drug racket involving medical representatives was dismantled by Jabalpur Police, resulting in the seizure of 6,600 intoxicating injections and the arrest of six individuals. The accused were procuring injections from Uttar Pradesh at low prices and selling them in Jabalpur to addicts for prices reaching Rs 500 per dose. The main supplier is currently evading authorities.
The operation was initiated after a tip-off to Belbagh Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Patkar regarding a significant consignment of drug injections arriving in Jabalpur from Uttar Pradesh via Rewa, Satna, and Katni. Jabalpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sampat Upadhyay formed a team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (Crime) Jitendra Singh. Near Ramlila Ground, police intercepted an e-rickshaw and apprehended Durga Patel (46) who was in possession of 3,200 injections valued at Rs 80,800.
Durga Patel revealed during interrogation that the stock was intended for Mohammad Arif and was dispatched by Amjad Khan. Subsequently, Mohammad Arif (32) and Amjad Khan (48) from Jabalpur were arrested. Further investigations led to the apprehension of two medical representatives, Sayyad Ashraf Ali (39) and Saurabh Namdev (45). Saurabh Namdev was identified as the individual responsible for sourcing injections from Uttar Pradesh and distributing them through Amjad Khan.
Additionally, Gitanshu Sahu (25) was arrested by Adhartal police in the Milk Scheme area with four sacks containing 3,400 injections. These individuals were found to be mixing Avil and Buprenorphine injections and selling them to drug addicts for prices ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 500, with medical representatives also involved in the network. A total of six arrests have been made so far, and cases have been registered under the Madhya Pradesh Drugs Control Act and the NDPS Act.
