A drug trafficker from Ahmedabad, Aslam Ahmad Pathan, has been sentenced to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and fined Rs 1 lakh by a Special NDPS Court in Vadodara for smuggling 99 grams of Mephedrone(MD) from Mumbai to Ahmedabad in 2021. Meanwhile, in a separate case, Jawarilal from Rajasthan was convicted by the Special Judge (NDPS) Court in Ajmer for smuggling 40.850 kilograms of illegal opium from Bihar to Rajasthan in 2020.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials intercepted the illegal opium being transported in a truck near Gegal Toll Plaza in Ajmer, leading to the discovery of 22 packets hidden in a specially concealed compartment near the fuel tank. Investigations revealed that the contraband originated from Sherghati in Bihar and was en route to Pali in Rajasthan. The accused in this case, Jawarilal, was found guilty under the NDPS Act and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
