Defending champions East Bengal FC secured a 3-1 victory over Sribhumi FC in an Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2025-26 match held at the East Bengal Ground in Kolkata. Fazila Ikwaput’s hat-trick led East Bengal to a dominant win, extending their lead at the top of the league table to 21 points from seven matches. This victory also saw Ikwaput surpass Ngangom Bala Devi as the second-highest scorer in the competition with 54 goals.

East Bengal exhibited strong control throughout the game, displaying an aggressive press and direct attacking strategies. Despite early challenges, Ikwaput’s persistence paid off as she scored crucial goals. Sribhumi FC, on the other hand, struggled to match East Bengal’s intensity, with Rimpa Haldar scoring their lone goal in the match.

The match showcased East Bengal’s attacking prowess, with Ikwaput’s clinical finishing being a standout feature. The team’s relentless pressure and Ikwaput’s exceptional performance proved too much for Sribhumi to handle. Despite a late consolation goal from Sribhumi, East Bengal’s victory was never in doubt, highlighting their strength in the league.

East Bengal’s victory was a testament to their solid gameplay and Ikwaput’s remarkable goal-scoring abilities. The team’s performance reflected their determination to maintain their position at the top of the league standings, setting a high standard for the competition.
