Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, urging the inclusion of 108 communities from Odisha’s SEBC list into the Central OBC list. He highlighted the importance of ensuring parity between the state and central OBC lists for uniform access to benefits and welfare schemes. Pradhan emphasized that this inclusion is crucial for promoting social justice and inclusive development.
Pradhan expressed concerns over the exclusion of these communities from the Central OBC list, leading to administrative challenges during migration or accessing government services. He stressed the need for these communities to have equal opportunities for reservations and welfare schemes at the national level. The Education Minister provided a detailed list of the proposed SEBC communities for consideration and action.
Requesting personal intervention, Pradhan urged for prompt action to include these communities in the Central OBC list. He emphasized that this step is vital for advancing educational and economic progress among historically disadvantaged groups. Pradhan also recently appealed to the Odisha Chief Minister for the timely reconstitution of the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes.
