The Egyptian Football Federation has lodged a formal protest with FIFA regarding the decisions made by referee Francois Letexier during their 3-2 loss to Argentina. Despite Egypt holding a 2-0 lead, Argentina staged a late comeback led by Lionel Messi, causing Egypt’s defeat. The Egyptian camp was left angered by various decisions, including a disallowed goal and an unreviewed penalty appeal.
The EFF’s president, Hany Abo Rida, has filed a complaint with FIFA against Letexier and his team, seeking an investigation into what Egypt perceives as biased decisions. The federation has also requested the removal of the French officiating team from the tournament due to alleged critical errors. Egyptian coach Hasan expressed disappointment with the match’s officiating, hinting at external influences favoring Argentina and Messi’s continuation in the competition.
Hasan criticized Letexier’s refereeing, highlighting two key incidents that impacted the game: the disallowed goal and a penalty appeal that was not considered before Argentina’s winning goal. He lamented the lack of respect and fair play, emphasizing the perceived injustices faced by Egypt during the match.
