An elderly man tragically lost his life after falling into an open manhole on Khairani Road in Saki Naka, Maharashtra. The incident occurred during maintenance work by a private contractor, with no safety measures in place. The victim, identified as Aslam Shaikh, fell into the manhole due to the absence of barricades or reflectors.
Following a four-hour rescue operation, the fire brigade retrieved Shaikh’s body, confirming his demise. Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi expressed condolences and mentioned that the victim’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.
