The Election Commission of India addressed the notice sent to former Navy Chief Admiral Arun Prakash and his wife, clarifying that missing details in an Enumeration Form led to the need for physical verification. The Electoral Registration Officer of Cortalim Assembly constituency in Goa stated that the form lacked crucial information from the previous Special Intensive Revision, causing it to be categorized as “unmapped.”
According to the ERO, the Enumeration Form did not include essential particulars like the elector’s name, EPIC number, and Assembly Constituency details, hindering its linkage to the electoral roll database. Due to these omissions, the system could not automatically match the form with existing records, triggering the need for a verification process through a hearing mechanism. Admiral Arun Prakash had earlier expressed concerns over the multiple verification notices received by him and his wife, emphasizing the need for improvements in the form-filling process and BLO training.
