Electronics manufacturing has become India’s third-largest export category, as stated by Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw. The industry has seen remarkable growth, reaching a value of Rs 13 lakh crore. This surge in electronics exports is attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of boosting this sector into a key pillar of the economy.
Vaishnaw, alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated Jabil’s advanced manufacturing facility in Pune. The minister emphasized the importance of anchoring artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure within India, highlighting AI’s global significance. He stressed the need for manufacturing major electronic components domestically to support AI data centers, a vital aspect of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Jabil’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune will produce critical data center components, catering to both domestic tech needs and global export demands. The integrated ecosystem of electronic components and finished goods is expected to bring substantial socio-economic benefits. The facility specializes in cutting-edge technology, including AI systems, 5G technology, networking gears, power system electronics, and consumer electronics.
This project, supported by active policy cooperation, aims to create 11,000 jobs and integrate domestic supply chains and MSMEs into the global technology landscape, fostering deep localization.
