Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for adopting austerity measures in fuel consumption, avoiding gold purchases, and using public transport has garnered support from prominent citizens in India. Notably, Padma Shri awardees Malini Awasthi and Chutni Mahto have openly backed the Prime Minister’s appeals. Malini Awasthi, a renowned folk singer and Padma Shri recipient, emphasized the significance of Modi’s message, urging women to take responsibility and act on his recommendations. She highlighted the importance of embracing indigenous products, conserving fuel, and opting for public transportation, echoing the positivity in Modi’s message.

Chutni Mahato, another Padma Shri awardee known for her efforts against witch-hunting, expressed solidarity with PM Modi’s initiatives, emphasizing their role in strengthening the country’s economy. Mahato stressed the non-political nature of the appeals, stating they are in the nation’s best interest. She particularly supported Modi’s suggestion to reduce cooking oil consumption, citing benefits for household budgets and public health. Mahato underlined the need for heightened health consciousness in society and advocated for the use of indigenous goods to boost the economy and create job opportunities.
