An employee at a chemist shop in Chandigarh’s Sector 11 market near PGIMER was fatally shot by two masked men in broad daylight. The victim, a cashier at Sri Kumar Medical Hall, was shot at close range. Following the shooting, the assailants, accompanied by a third person, fled on a motorcycle from the market’s parking area.
A shop CCTV footage captured the assailants conversing with the victim before one of them fired multiple rounds using an automatic pistol. Two individuals, likely employees, managed to escape the scene. Another CCTV clip showed people panicking and running upon hearing the gunshots. The victim, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed to PGIMER but succumbed to his injuries.
This incident marks the second high-profile killing in Chandigarh. Previously, a 31-year-old property dealer, Chamanpreet Singh, was fatally shot in broad daylight in Sector 9. The attack occurred as Singh was leaving a gym and was ambushed while in his SUV. The assailants, arriving on a motorcycle, fired at Singh before fleeing the scene.
