An encounter commenced on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district between terrorists and security forces. Officials confirmed the ongoing operation in the Dorimal forests of Rajouri, with an estimated 2-3 Pakistani terrorists believed to be trapped. The security forces initiated a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the Dorimal forest area.
Reinforcements have been deployed to seal off all potential exit points of the terrorists in hiding. Rajouri and Poonch, the two border districts, have seen an escalation in counter-terror operations due to their historical significance as infiltration and revival routes for terrorists. Security forces have intensified combing and search operations across the mountainous terrain to locate armed groups.
In recent years, the region has witnessed various encounters and search operations targeting suspected terrorists. Notably, a significant multi-area search operation was launched across Poonch and Rajouri districts in May 2026. These efforts followed a thwarted infiltration attempt along the Line of Control, leading to the elimination of an infiltrator. The security forces’ proactive measures include combing operations in different areas to prevent terrorist activities.
