The Enforcement Task Force of CAQM identified 336 violations in Delhi, with 34 from the Construction and Demolition sector, 229 from the industrial sector, and five by Diesel Generator sets. The Task Force conducted a total of 739 inspections between January 20 and February 4, as disclosed during the 125th meeting of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).

During the inspections, 52 violations were found in the Construction and Demolition sector, 680 in the industrial sector, and seven related to Diesel Generator (DG) sets. The Task Force recommended the closure of 21 polluting units, sealing of 53 DG sets, and issued show cause notices to two units. Currently, 63 reports are still being examined.

The Flying Squads of the Commission reviewed inspection outcomes across various pollution sectors, including industries, road dust, construction activities, Diesel Generator sets, and incidents of Municipal Solid Waste and biomass burning. Special road dust inspection drives were conducted in Greater Noida and Gurugram to assess dust control measures’ effectiveness.

The Task Force analyzed the nature and extent of violations, focusing on industrial units’ gross violations. It evaluated proposed enforcement actions, such as closure directions and sealing of DG sets. The performance of inspection teams was also reviewed for consistency, coverage, and timely reporting of violations.

The updated cumulative enforcement status revealed that 25,975 units, projects, and entities have been inspected by the Flying Squads. As a result, 1,661 closure directions were issued for non-compliance, with 1,278 resumption orders issued upon verification of compliance by the units.
