Adil Rashid, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed each took two wickets as England limited New Zealand to 159/7 in 20 overs during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group 2 Super 8s match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. New Zealand, opting to bat first, had a strong start with Finn Allen and Tim Seifert countering England’s bowlers after a solid first over by Jofra Archer.
New Zealand managed to score 54 runs in the following five overs after a slow start, completing the mandatory batting Power-play without losing a wicket for the first time in seven games. Adil Rashid made a breakthrough by dismissing Tim Seifert for 35 runs, breaking the opening partnership of 64 runs and inching closer to the record for most wickets in ICC Men’s T20 World Cups.
Will Jacks also impressed by taking two crucial wickets, including Finn Allen, who departed after a lapse in judgment. Despite Glenn Philips showing resistance with a score of 39 off 28 balls, New Zealand struggled as England’s bowlers continued to apply pressure. In the end, New Zealand lost their last four wickets for just 36 runs, finishing at 159/7.
