Top-order batsmen Jacob Bethell and captain Harry Brook, along with a late surge from Will Jacks, led England to a total of 184/7 in their 20 overs against Nepal in the T20 World Cup 2026 fifth match at the Wankhede Stadium. England, batting first, faced early setbacks with opener Phil Salt’s quick dismissal after returning from injury. Former captain Jos Buttler contributed 22 runs off 14 balls before being dismissed.
Bethell, in his T20 World Cup debut, partnered with skipper Brook to stabilize England’s innings with a 71-run stand. Bethell’s aggressive half-century off 28 balls included four sixes and four boundaries. Despite losing partners, Brook continued the onslaught, reaching his fifty in 31 balls before falling for 53 off 32 deliveries. All-rounder Jacks’ quick 39 off 18 balls provided England a strong finish.
Nepal’s bowlers Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav impressed with two wickets each, supported by debutant Sher and Sandeep Lamichhane. England’s total of 184/7 posed a challenging target for Nepal in the match.
