England’s Harry Brook has surpassed teammate Joe Root to become the No.1 batter in the ICC Test rankings. Brook’s half-century in England’s win over New Zealand propelled him to the top spot, relegating Root to third place. Meanwhile, India’s Shubman Gill climbed two spots to eighth after scoring a century against Afghanistan.
Brook had previously held the top ranking in December 2024 and has now reclaimed it ahead of the upcoming Test match at The Oval. Gill’s impressive 126 against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh boosted his ranking to eighth place. Additionally, England’s Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, and Glenn Phillips also made strides in the batters rankings.
In the bowling rankings, England’s Gus Atkinson surged seven places to break into the top 10 Test bowlers, also reaching sixth place among all-rounders. New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson and Ollie Robinson re-entered the rankings, with Kiwi pacer Nathan Smith climbing 16 spots.
In ODIs, Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed moved up to second among bowlers after a strong performance against Australia. Australia’s Nathan Ellis and Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana also saw improvements in their rankings. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage, along with Bangladesh’s Tanzid Hasan, made gains in the ODI batters rankings.
