The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has finished transferring its member records to a new centralized national database under the CITES Project. This initiative aims to modernize service delivery through automation and rule-based processing. Members can now access services from any authorized location across the country, improving convenience and operational efficiency.
The CITES project offers various benefits such as faster interest crediting, easier information access, quick claim settlements, automatic fund transfers upon job changes, and simplified pension rules. Annual interest for FY 25-26, estimated at over Rs 1.44 lakh crore across 34 crore member accounts, will be auto-processed and verified by Field Authorities before crediting to member accounts by July 15.
Members can now view their membership details, fund balances, claim status, service records, and benefits through a unified digital interface on the Member portal. This transparency and access to information were previously scattered across different systems. Claims will undergo automated pre-validation to reduce rejections and enhance acceptance rates, with a higher auto-settlement limit for advance claims now set at Rs 5 lakh.
The EPFO offices will raise queries online for additional claim information, enabling faster resolution and reducing physical visits. Claim payments will be processed through a centralized payment system for secure and timely settlements directly into members’ bank accounts. Transfer of Aadhaar-linked UAN based member accounts upon rejoining employment will be automatic, eliminating the need for separate applications.
EPS scheme pensioners can now access services at any PF office and submit life certificates. The centralised pension payment system allows pension claims to be processed in any regional office and paid through any bank account in India. Previously, pensioners were restricted to receiving payments only through linked Branch Offices.
