The European Union (EU) called in Russia’s charge d’affaires to address Russia’s warning of additional strikes on Kyiv. The EU found Russia’s statements regarding the Ukrainian capital and the call for foreign citizens and diplomats to evacuate Kyiv as “unacceptable.” Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported ongoing strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial sites in Kyiv following a drone attack in the Luhansk region.
Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova disclosed that an attack on Starobelsk college led to 21 fatalities and over 60 injuries, with 86 children aged 14 to 18 present during the incident. Russia advised foreign citizens, diplomats, and international organization staff to leave Kyiv promptly and cautioned local residents to steer clear of military and administrative facilities in the city. Despite the situation, the EU confirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine, emphasizing the need for air defense and financial assistance.
The EU announced plans to uphold its operations in Kyiv and reiterated its backing for Ukraine. Additionally, EU foreign ministers are scheduled to convene in Cyprus for an informal meeting to explore avenues for intensifying global pressure on Russia. In a separate development, Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Ambassador to Norway to express disapproval of recent threats against foreign individuals in Ukraine. Russia’s Defence Ministry clarified that its recent attacks targeted Ukrainian defense industry sites, military infrastructure, and command posts, emphasizing the avoidance of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
