An excise department officer was injured when a mob attacked the team during a raid in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The team had gone to raid an illicit liquor manufacturing unit in Argundi village along the Chaibasa-Chakradharpur road after receiving specific information about illegal liquor production.
The situation escalated dramatically during the raid as a man inside the house allegedly attacked the team with a sharp weapon, injuring Assistant Sub-Inspector Mantu Agarwal. The attack led to panic among officials, attracting a large number of villagers armed with traditional weapons to the spot.
Following the incident, the injured officer was taken to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable. Excise Commissioner Niranjan Tiwari visited the hospital to meet the injured officer, while the Chaibasa Mufassil police initiated an investigation and tightened security in the area to prevent further unrest.
