Excitement is mounting among chefs and the Indian diaspora in Slovakia as they gear up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit. In Bratislava, an Indian-origin restaurant owned by Rajesh is busy preparing to serve meals for the visiting delegation. Chef Rajendra Singh Negi and his team are finalizing menus and arrangements for the high-profile visit.
Chef Negi, who has been in Slovakia for a decade, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am the head chef, and this is my team…Prime Minister of our country is coming here. His team has already come here. We are preparing their dinner.” Another chef at the restaurant, who has been in Slovakia for three years, shared the sentiment of pride and happiness ahead of the visit, saying, “We waited a long time for the Prime Minister of our country to visit here. We are feeling very good and very happy. We feel very proud.”
The Indian diaspora in Slovakia views the upcoming visit as a historic moment, emphasizing its significance in strengthening ties between India and Slovakia. Community members and restaurant staff are actively preparing to host and serve the visiting Indian delegation. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Slovakia on Sunday at the invitation of his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico.
This visit will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country’s independence in 1993, marking a historic milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two nations. During his visit, PM Modi will engage in delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Fico and meet President Peter Pellegrini. The discussions are poised to explore new opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway infrastructure. The visit is seen as a significant move towards enhancing political, economic, and industrial ties between India and Slovakia.
