External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Bahrain’s King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, expressing gratitude for safeguarding the Indian diaspora in Bahrain. He also had an audience with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, conveying warm regards from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar appreciated the King’s support in enhancing the India-Bahrain partnership.
Jaishankar engaged with the Indian community in Bahrain during his official visit, acknowledging their significant contributions to Bahraini society and their role as a connection between India and Bahrain. He listened to their perspectives and suggestions for strengthening the bilateral relationship. Earlier, Jaishankar held discussions with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in Manama to address bilateral relations and regional developments.
After his meeting, Jaishankar expressed delight in engaging with the Bahraini Foreign Minister and commended efforts to ensure the welfare of the Indian community. He emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on regional affairs. Jaishankar’s visit to Bahrain follows his engagements in Qatar, where he met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and interacted with the Indian community. This visit is part of Jaishankar’s six-nation tour, with upcoming stops in Kuwait, Oman, the US, and Brussels.
