Amid speculation about the NCP (SP) aligning with the ruling alliance, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that no new party would be joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or the state’s Mahayuti alliance. He emphasized the strength of the current alliance and ruled out any intentions to split parties for expansion or upcoming elections.
Fadnavis made these statements following a high-level meeting in New Delhi, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, focused on projects in the Narmada River basin. The meeting resulted in Maharashtra securing 10 TMC of water, marking a significant development for the state.
Addressing recent political developments, Fadnavis reiterated that there were no plans for a new party to join either the NDA at the Centre or the Mahayuti in Maharashtra. Speculation arose after reports of a meeting between BJP MP Vinod Tawde and NCP (SP) leader Jayant Patil, but leaders from the Sharad Pawar faction have dismissed these claims.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar refuted the rumors, stating that no discussions about party splits were taking place within their ranks. He emphasized their longstanding opposition to the BJP’s ideology and their commitment to advocating for farmers’ issues. Additionally, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule clarified that meetings between Tawde and their party members were routine and not politically motivated, downplaying the significance of the alleged political discussions.
