The family of Pulak Haldar, a final-year student at Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital and Medical College in West Bengal’s Nadia district, asserts that he was murdered. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death, as per an investigating officer. Pulak’s father, Sudhanshu Haldar, highlighted injuries and cut marks on his son’s body, raising suspicions of foul play.
Uttam Mondal, a relative, described Pulak as a bright and well-mannered individual and noted injuries on his face and belly. Mondal emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pulak’s death. Initial findings indicate that Pulak was last seen on February 20 at the hostel canteen and had not been sighted since, remaining within the hostel premises.
Upon detecting a foul odor from his room on February 26, authorities discovered Pulak’s decomposed body after forcibly entering. The family mentioned their last contact with Pulak on February 20, the day he went missing. Allegations have also surfaced regarding Pulak facing bullying during protests linked to a previous incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, though official confirmation is pending.
