The family of Anish Awadhiya, a victim in the Pune Porsche hit-and-run case, expressed disappointment as three accused individuals, involved in swapping blood samples to protect minors, were given bail by the Supreme Court. Anish’s grandfather, Atmaram Awadhiya from Umaria district, stated that the court’s decision left the family disheartened. It was revealed that a bribe was paid by the accused minor’s father to swap blood samples and shield the minors.
Anish’s father, Om Awadhiya, expressed their hope for justice from the apex court but found the bail for the accused disappointing. He mentioned concerns about political influence and monetary factors affecting the case outcome. The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Ashish Satish Mittal, Aditya Avinash Sood, and Amar Santhosh Gaikwad, who were involved in the blood sample swapping, was based on their nearly 20 months of incarceration, as per the bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan.
The accused individuals, Mittal, Sood, and Gaikwad, were allegedly part of the scheme to swap blood samples of minor occupants in the Porsche car involved in the fatal accident. Mittal, a friend of the main accused’s father, Sood, the father of a minor in the car, and Gaikwad, a middleman, were implicated in the manipulation. The tragic incident occurred on May 19, 2024, in Pune, resulting in the deaths of Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, who were returning home from a hotel.
