Shocking details have emerged in Palamu, Jharkhand, where five family members died within ten days after consuming ash as advised by an occultist. The Health Department revealed that instead of seeking proper medical care, the family opted for faith healing and ingested ash on the guidance of a local practitioner. Doctors suspect this unconventional treatment may have worsened their health conditions.

The tragic incident occurred in Sikka village, Palamu district, where the family patriarch, Kuldeep Mahto, passed away on June 19. Subsequently, his daughter, daughter-in-law, and son also succumbed to the same fate. Three other family members are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS in Ranchi.

A Health Department team is investigating the matter in Sikka village and Purnadih, where the family sought faith healing. Samples of the ash consumed by the family have been collected for analysis, along with other potential factors. The viscera of the deceased have been preserved for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Doctors are considering the possibility of dropsy as a preliminary cause of death and are testing items used by the family, including mustard oil. The investigation aims to shed light on the tragic deaths that occurred within a short span of time.
