The family of the victim in the RG Kar rape and murder case has taken their concerns to a Sealdah court following claims of tampering with their daughter’s viscera samples. Allegations suggest that the tampering occurred at the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Belgachia, involving three laboratory officials. The victim’s family, prompted by a letter from an unnamed sender claiming to be a former employee of the laboratory, has sought verification of these allegations from the court.
The sender of the letter accused the Belgachia laboratory officials of swapping viscera samples before sending them for forensic analysis, implicating the involvement of the then Chief Minister or the Trinamool. The letter further alleged a history of swapping samples related to BJP or CPI-M workers during the Trinamool era, citing the use of substandard materials in forensic tests. The victim’s family, having received the letter twice in May, approached the Sealdah court to request an investigation into the claims and verify the authenticity of the allegations.
The victim’s father expressed disappointment in the lack of action by the CBI upon receiving the letter and emphasized the urgency of addressing the alleged distortion of the viscera report. He raised questions about the continued tenure of the state Health Secretary post the change in government. The case, involving the recovery of the female doctor’s body at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in 2024, led to the arrest of Civic Volunteer Sanjay Roy by Kolkata Police, with subsequent investigation transfer to the CBI as per the Calcutta High Court’s directives.
