Singer Katy Perry has expressed her dismay towards US President Donald Trump for using her song ‘Firework’ in a video showing US strikes on Iran. Perry, who was not consulted about the use of her song, took to social media to express her anger, stating that the song was meant to promote self-worth and upliftment, not to accompany footage of military action. She emphasized that the use of her song in such a context goes against its intended message of hope and inner strength.
A TikTok video circulating online combined clips of military strikes with Perry’s 2010 hit single. Perry, known for her performance of the song at Joe Biden’s inauguration event, joins other artists in condemning the Trump administration for using their music without permission. Previously, singer Ariana Grande also criticized Trump for using her song in a TikTok video promoting US immigration arrests, calling the act “barbaric” and “inhumane.”
