Family members of Gade Sai Krishna, who went missing over a month ago and is suspected to have been killed while in police custody, met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati. The youth’s mother, Vijaya Lakshmi, urged the Chief Minister to investigate her son’s disappearance and ensure justice. CM Naidu assured the family of a thorough and impartial inquiry into the matter, mentioning that he had already initiated an investigation and suspended the Circle Inspector involved.
Vijaya Lakshmi expressed contentment with the Chief Minister’s commitment to ensuring justice for her son. She shared her confidence in the process after the meeting, stating that the Chief Minister had promised a comprehensive investigation to hold accountable those responsible. The family’s meeting with the Chief Minister followed a visit by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who advocated for a CBI probe into Sai Krishna’s disappearance and alleged death in police custody.
Sai Krishna, a 26-year-old resident of Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada, was taken into police custody on May 9 for questioning and has not been seen since. His mother filed a Habeas Corpus petition in the High Court, leading to directives for his production before the court. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, on June 17, instructed a senior IPS officer to investigate the case and suspended the Circle Inspector involved. The investigation is now being led by East Godavari district Superintendent of Police, D. Narasimha Kishore.
