A farmers’ workshop focusing on natural farming took place in Kota, guided by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Approximately 1,000 farmers participated, learning about modern techniques to enhance income through natural farming, low-cost cultivation, improved productivity, and agricultural marketing. The event also included the release of a book on natural farming and the felicitation of progressive farmers for their significant contributions to the agricultural sector.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, in his address at the workshop, praised the farming community and emphasized the crucial roles of farmers and soldiers in the nation. He reiterated his dedication to enhancing farmers’ living standards in the Hadoti region and making agriculture a profitable venture. Birla highlighted the importance of natural farming in India’s agricultural heritage and stressed the need to reduce the excessive use of chemical fertilizers for soil fertility and ecological balance.
Birla encouraged farmers in Hadoti to diversify their income by adopting practices like multi-cropping, horticulture, beekeeping, and animal husbandry. He also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s farmer-centric initiatives and the development of irrigation projects to benefit farmers. The Lok Sabha Speaker expressed confidence in the completion of key irrigation projects in the region, ensuring long-term advantages for farmers.
Efforts are underway to establish cold-storage facilities at the tehsil and panchayat levels in Hadoti to preserve green fodder for livestock. Birla announced plans to collaborate with dairy companies for the procurement of milk, fruits, and vegetables from farmers at fair prices. Modern marketing linkages are being developed to provide real-time price information to farmers and ensure competitive rates for their produce in major markets.
