Former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah stated that the National Conference (NC) will participate in the INDIA Bloc meeting in Delhi on June 8. He mentioned that either he or his son, Omar, will represent the party at the meeting. Abdullah emphasized that the NC will persist in advocating for the special status of J&K.
Abdullah responded to BJP leader Sunil Sharma’s remark on Article 370, asserting that the NC will continue to champion the issue indefinitely. Following a meeting of its MLAs, the NC declared plans to protest in Delhi during the upcoming Parliament session for the restoration of J&K’s statehood and constitutional guarantees.
The INDIA Bloc, an alliance formed by the Indian National Congress, opposes the governance of the ruling NDA government. In the 2024 general elections, the alliance secured a majority in various states, including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The NC, under Abdullah’s leadership, and the PDP, led by Mehbooba Mufti, are among the 35 parties in the INDIA Bloc.
