A tragic road accident on National Highway 552 in the Umri area of Bhind district resulted in the deaths of three young men and left one critically injured. The incident occurred when a speeding bus collided with the motorcycle carrying the victims near Kishore Singh Ka Pura village around 1:30 PM.
According to police officials, the bus driver showed extreme negligence by dragging the victims’ motorcycle for five kilometers after the collision before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene. Four youths were riding together on the motorcycle when the bus, coming from the opposite direction, struck them with great force, instantly killing two riders.
Despite the motorcycle getting stuck beneath the bus chassis, the driver did not stop and continued to drive, with witnesses in a following car trying to alert him by honking repeatedly. The bus was pursued all the way to Umri town before it finally stopped, leading to chaos as passengers rushed out, allowing the driver to escape into the crowd.
The aftermath of the accident revealed shortcomings in the local emergency medical response system, with delays in transporting the injured to medical facilities. While two survivors were taken to the Community Health Centre and later referred to Bhind District Hospital, one youth passed away during treatment, and the fourth victim remains in critical condition, needing urgent transfer to a specialized facility in Gwalior for ventilator support.
