A tragic road accident in Bihar’s Arwal district resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left two others critically injured. The incident occurred when a passenger tempo collided head-on with a Hiwa truck on National Highway-139 near Madhuban village in the Sadar block. The collision led to immediate panic at the scene, prompting residents to rush to aid the victims.
The passenger tempo, carrying six individuals including the driver, was en route from Arwal to Parasi Bazaar when the speeding Hiwa truck crashed into it. The impact of the collision was severe, causing the death of two occupants on the spot, with two others succumbing to their injuries while being transported to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Amarjit Kumar (27), Rajgir Ram (50), Manisha Devi (48), and Ramdayal Rajvanshi.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations at Sadar Hospital, Arwal. Two passengers who sustained serious injuries, Sunil Kumar (32) and Mahendra Ram (63), received initial treatment at Sadar Hospital before being referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for specialized medical care. Eyewitnesses described the immediate aftermath of the crash as cries for help echoed across the area, leading to a swift rescue operation by residents, police, and administrative officials.
The accident caused a temporary traffic jam on NH-139, which was cleared after the damaged vehicles were removed by the police. Scenes of mourning unfolded outside Sadar Hospital as family members gathered to receive the bodies of the deceased. Following the incident, senior officials and public representatives, including Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sanjeev Kumar and Janata Dal (United) State Secretary Manju Kumari, visited the hospital to assess the situation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, focusing on factors such as speeding or negligence that may have contributed to the fatal crash. Efforts are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic accident and to take appropriate administrative and legal actions.
