A tragic road accident in Bihar’s Saran district resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left four others critically injured. The incident took place near Manopur village under the Dighwara police station limits on a National Highway during Sunday night. The victims, who were returning from a religious gathering, were hit by a speeding SUV that collided with their auto-rickshaw.

The impact of the crash was so intense that the auto-rickshaw was severely damaged, trapping the passengers inside and causing chaos. Three people lost their lives on the spot, identified as Laljhari Devi (48), Brijmohan Manjhi alias Sukhan (17), and Shankar Ram (60), all residents of Jhauwa Basant village. Additionally, four individuals sustained critical injuries in the accident.

The injured, including Sumitra Devi, Virendra Manjhi, Riya Kumari, and Lalmuni Devi, were promptly taken to the Dighwara Primary Health Centre with the help of local residents. Some of the injured were later transferred to Chhapra Sadar Hospital for further treatment, with doctors confirming the severity of their conditions. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV absconded from the scene along with the vehicle, prompting an ongoing investigation by the police to locate and apprehend the driver.

The tragic incident transformed what was meant to be a religious outing into a sorrowful event, plunging the victims’ families and the village into mourning. As the news spread, cries of grief filled the air, and the community rallied to support the affected families. Authorities have taken custody of the deceased bodies for post-mortem examination and are actively working to identify and track down the driver and the vehicle involved in the accident.
