The father and brother of Twisha Sharma, a victim of dowry death, have criticized the police for their handling of a burglary incident at the victim’s in-laws’ place. They expressed concerns over contradictory statements made by Madhya Pradesh Police Commissioner Kailash Makwana and Assistant Commissioner of Police regarding the alleged burglary. The defense lawyer highlighted that the burglary involved theft of both jewelry and documents, catching the family members by surprise.
Twisha’s brother raised doubts about the police’s competence, citing delays in filing an FIR and evidence tampering. However, he acknowledged the police’s swift response to the burglary, where thieves were apprehended with documents. Despite this, he pointed out discrepancies in the statements provided by the Police Commissioner and the ACP, calling for clarity on the number of thieves involved and the items stolen.
The family expressed frustration over the lack of transparency in the investigation, questioning the varying descriptions of the robbery provided by different sources. They highlighted the unusual circumstances of the burglary, where thieves targeted documents under police surveillance. Demanding a thorough inquiry, they criticized what they perceived as institutional bias within the police force. Additionally, they requested the case to be transferred to Delhi for impartiality and openness.
