FC Barcelona has completed the signing of Ecuadorian left-back Josue Caicedo from LDU Quito. The 18-year-old player joins on an initial loan deal, which could become a permanent transfer for approximately 2.5 million euros (2.9 million U.S. dollars) based on a set number of first-team appearances. LDU Quito will receive 20 percent of any future sale of Caicedo.
Caicedo, known for his height and strength, started his career as a winger and has already gained first-team experience with LDU Quito. While he will initially play for Barcelona’s B team, he is expected to train with the first team as well, as reported by Xinhua.
Spanish media had previously reported on this transfer at the end of June, but FC Barcelona officially confirmed the signing on July 13. The club has commenced preseason training for the upcoming 2026-27 La Liga season in preparation for their quest for a third consecutive domestic title.
