A 27-month-old female cheetah, KGP11, was discovered injured in the Pahadgarh area of Morena district. She has been moved to a veterinary facility within Kuno National Park for necessary treatment and monitoring. The cheetah was spotted in an injured state during routine surveillance on June 1 by a tracking team, prompting immediate action by park authorities.
KGP11, an Indian-born female cheetah associated with the Cheetah Project, was released into the wild in March 2025 and has been freely roaming the forest. The exact nature of the injury sustained by the cheetah has not been disclosed by forest officials. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the injury. The cheetah is currently receiving treatment and constant observation by wildlife experts at the veterinary centre in Kuno National Park.
Field Director of Kuno National Park, Uttam Kumar Sharma, mentioned that a team of veterinarians and wildlife specialists is closely monitoring the cheetah’s recovery progress. The forest department has affirmed that the cheetah is receiving all necessary medical care. The incident has triggered a thorough inquiry to understand the circumstances surrounding the injury. All other cheetahs in the park are reported to be in good health and are under regular observation.
