Filmmaker Aanand L Rai shared his attraction to the project “Tu Yaa Main,” starring Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav, due to its unpredictability. The film ventures into a rare genre for Bollywood, focusing on a creature survival thriller centered around a fierce crocodile. Rai expressed his enthusiasm for the unique nature of the film, combining creature-driven survival with relatable characters in a contemporary setting.
Aanand L Rai highlighted the relatability of the lead characters, Maruti and Avani, in “Tu Yaa Main.” He emphasized that these characters feel familiar, and when placed in extreme circumstances, the tension intensifies on a personal level. Rai’s production house is recognized for backing unconventional films like the “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” series, “Newton,” and “Tumbbad.”
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, “Tu Yaa Main” follows the story of Avani Shah (played by Shanaya Kapoor), a popular social media influencer, and Maruti Kadam (portrayed by Adarsh Gourav), a rapper from Nalasopara. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they become trapped in an abandoned swimming pool with a crocodile.
Adarsh Gourav, reflecting on his role as Maruti, shared his emotional journey with the character. He described how the project came at a crucial time for him, providing clarity and purpose.
