The final voters’ list in West Bengal, part of the Special Intensive Revision, was released, revealing 61,78,245 deleted voters. This number may rise as 60 lakh voters’ identity documents are being reviewed by judicial officers appointed by the Election Commission of India.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, disclosed that the approved voters in the final list amount to 7,04,59,284. Initially, there were 7,66,37,529 voters, which decreased to 7,08,16,630 during the revision process.
Agarwal mentioned that individuals with objections regarding deletions can appeal to the District Electoral Officer (DEO) and subsequently to the CEO within 14 days. Despite errors in the process, the CEO assured that corrective actions were taken by the Election Commission of India.
Political parties, including the ruling Trinamool Congress, have criticized the Special Intensive Revision for alleged procedural flaws. The final voters’ list, categorized as “approved”, “under adjudication”, and “deleted”, is available online on the ECI and CEO, West Bengal websites.
