Reacting to the FIR filed against Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee for alleged aggressive remarks during campaigning, West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh emphasized that strict action would be taken against those engaging in misconduct. Ghosh highlighted that individuals, including Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee, should now fear consequences, as complaints are being addressed promptly.
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain condemned Abhishek Banerjee’s language, describing it as unsuitable for a democratic setup. He emphasized that the FIR was a result of such unacceptable behavior and that appropriate measures would be taken in response. The FIR against Abhishek Banerjee pertains to provocative statements made during the West Bengal Assembly polls.
The FIR has escalated political tensions in West Bengal, with both the Trinamool and BJP trading accusations regarding campaign rhetoric and alleged incendiary remarks. The situation has intensified due to the widespread circulation of certain comments, including those targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on social media platforms and the MP’s official Facebook page.
In a separate development, the West Bengal government has suspended three senior IPS officers, including former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, over alleged lapses in the investigation of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the suspension, citing serious procedural irregularities in handling the case.
