Over 20 individuals from six families were safely rescued on Friday morning following a fire at an Electric Vehicle (EV) showroom in Indore. The incident took place near Khalsa Chowk in the Lasudia area around 8 A.M. The fire originated in the EV showroom on the ground floor of a mixed-use building, leading to residents on upper floors being trapped.
Residents in flats above woke up to smoke-filled rooms and breathing difficulties as flames blocked their exit route. Neighbors, police, and fire brigade teams collaborated to rescue them using ladders and ropes. A path was created between two roofs with ladders and ropes, allowing trapped individuals to move to safety.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread to residential flats, preserving household belongings. However, all electric two-wheelers in the showroom were destroyed. Fire officials indicated that the blaze was swiftly controlled within an hour using water tankers. Initial investigations point to a short circuit as the likely cause, with a detailed probe ongoing.
Locals and fire personnel’s prompt response averted a potential disaster, although the showroom suffered significant damage. The residential area of the building remained unharmed, ensuring the safety of all residents.
