A fire erupted at a renowned cake manufacturing company’s factory in Anandapur, located in the southern outskirts of Kolkata. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The factory, situated on EM bypass, witnessed the fire outbreak during operations on Monday night. Upon noticing the flames, workers evacuated the premises swiftly, prompting a response from the Anandapur police station, as well as the Police and Fire Department. The fire rapidly engulfed the factory, necessitating the arrival of police and fire brigade personnel who cordoned off the area and commenced firefighting efforts.
Responding to the emergency, three fire engines were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Eventually, the fire was brought under control after some time. Initial suspicions point towards a potential short circuit as the trigger for the fire. Police and fire officials have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, including verifying the factory’s documentation compliance.
The recent fire incident at the cake manufacturing company’s factory in Anandapur area evoked memories of a tragic event earlier in the year. In January, a massive fire had ravaged a nearby warehouse belonging to Pushpanjali decorators and an adjacent momo factory. Regrettably, 27 individuals lost their lives in the blaze, with an additional 27 individuals still unaccounted for.
Tragically, the victims were unable to escape the factory during the fire, leading to the recovery of their remains from the charred warehouse. Due to the challenging identification process, DNA tests were conducted to match the recovered body parts with their respective families. Subsequently, the remains of 27 individuals were handed over to their loved ones following the DNA verification process, while three individuals were apprehended in connection with the incident.
