A fire incident occurred at the historic ‘Quraishiyan Ka Taziya’ in Jaipur during Muharram processions, narrowly avoiding a major tragedy. The blaze, sparked by fireworks during the procession, engulfed the decorative dome of the Taziya, causing panic among devotees and onlookers.
Eyewitnesses reported the flames spreading rapidly, but quick action by security personnel and emergency teams prevented further escalation. Fire brigade personnel stationed nearby swiftly controlled the blaze, ensuring it did not reach the crowd or nearby structures, averting a potential disaster.
The district administration’s proactive deployment of fire tenders and emergency response teams along the procession route played a crucial role in containing the situation promptly. Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties reported, and the procession resumed after the fire was extinguished without significant damage beyond the affected area of the Taziya.
Meanwhile, Muharram was observed with reverence across the state, with devotees commemorating the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala. Tazias, symbolic of Imam Hussain’s mausoleum, were set up at various locations, attracting crowds for prayers and floral tributes.
In Jodhpur, a festive atmosphere surrounded the tazias, drawing large numbers of Muslim devotees who offered sweets as niyaz and enjoyed traditional dishes like haleem. Around 27 tazias were placed at prominent sites, with community gatherings marked by solemnity and devotion.
