A fire erupted at a restaurant near the Kalkaji-Govind Puri flyover in South Delhi on Sunday, leading to a significant firefighting operation by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Fortunately, an elderly woman was rescued, and there were no reported casualties.
The blaze was controlled after nine fire tenders were dispatched to the scene. The DFS received a fire call around 4:45 a.m. regarding a fire at Panjabi Tadka restaurant situated in H-Block near Anjali Jewellers and Desh Bandhu Gupta College on the Kalkaji-Govind Puri flyover stretch.
Initially, six firefighting units, including two water tenders, three water bowsers, and one breathing apparatus support vehicle, responded to the fire. As the fire expanded, additional resources were mobilized, prompting an escalation in the response with a total deployment of nine units by 5:05 a.m.
The firefighting operation, overseen by Assistant Divisional Officers Yashwant and Sarabjeet, along with Station Officers Phool Singh, Manish Kumar, and Raj Kumar, successfully brought the fire under control by 5:40 a.m. Subsequently, cooling operations were conducted to prevent any rekindling of the fire.
