A fire broke out in two rear coaches of the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express, leading to a high-level inquiry being initiated. The incident occurred between Luni Richha and Vikramgarh Alot, prompting the evacuation of passengers from the affected coaches. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as all passengers were safely deboarded.
Railway authorities have ordered a nationwide audit of fire-related systems in coaches and railway infrastructure to enhance safety measures and prevent similar incidents. The affected coach, including one guard coach and one AC 3 Tier, was detached from the train following the fire. The Overhead Equipment power supply was promptly cut off to avert further risks, and railway personnel engaged in firefighting operations.
Built-in safety mechanisms in the coach functioned effectively, automatically halting the train after the fire outbreak. Additional measures were taken to assist affected passengers, with refreshments provided at the site. An extra coach will be added at Kota station to facilitate the onward journey of passengers.
Senior railway officials from Kota swiftly responded to the incident, ensuring the situation was under control. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with emergency contact numbers released for inquiries regarding the affected railway section. The incident also disrupted rail traffic on the New Delhi-Mumbai route, impacting several trains temporarily.
