The Sports Authority of India and the Fit India Movement organized the “Fit India Hit India” Friendly Cricket Match at the Air India Ground, Vakola, in Mumbai. Public servants, film personalities, fitness enthusiasts, and sports lovers gathered to promote fitness, active living, and community participation. The match featured the GST & Customs Amateur Team against the Mumbai Heroes team in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The event, part of the Government of India’s Fit India Movement initiative, aimed to promote physical and mental well-being through sports and active lifestyles. Prachi Saroop, Principal Chief Commissioner (CGST), Mumbai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, with BB Gupta, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone, attending as the Guest of Honour. Pankaj Singh, Commissioner CGST, emphasized the importance of initiatives like “Fit India Hit India” in fostering a culture of fitness and well-being among citizens.
The Mumbai Heroes squad, including Suniel Shetty, Sohail Khan, Sharad Kelkar, Shabir Ahluwalia, and Freddy Daruwala, along with other prominent personalities, came together to raise awareness about physical and mental health. The match saw the GST & Customs Amateur Team setting a competitive total of 170/5 in their 20 overs, with Akhilesh Kumar top-scoring with 57 runs. Mumbai Heroes, chasing 171, fell short, finishing at 131/9, giving GST & Customs Amateur Team a 39-run victory.
