Thousands of citizens, athletes, students, and fitness enthusiasts in Telangana participated in a special edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle to mark World Bicycle Day. The event, organized by the Sports Authority of Telangana, saw a large-scale cycling and fitness activities across the state. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated a cycle rally at the Gachibowli Practice Stadium, attended by senior ministers and sports administrators.
Minister for ITE&C, Industries and Commerce Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for Youth Services and Sports Vakiti Srihari, and other dignitaries were present at the event. Governor Shukla emphasized the importance of cycling in promoting public health and environmental conservation. He encouraged citizens to embrace cycling as a regular practice in alignment with the Fit India Movement’s goals.
Participants gathered early in the morning for the event, engaging in a Zumba warm-up session before joining the cycle rally. Medals were awarded to participants post the rally, followed by a communal breakfast. The Fit India Movement, initiated in 2019, aims to integrate fitness into daily life and has evolved into a nationwide campaign, involving millions of cycling enthusiasts and reaching millions through various events and awareness programs.
The celebrations in Telangana attracted personnel from various organizations, including the CRPF, Indian Air Force, police departments, and educational institutions. Apart from cycling, the program featured activities like yoga, Zumba, and rope skipping, catering to individuals of all age groups. The event symbolized collective efforts towards a cleaner, greener, and healthier India, emphasizing community participation and commitment to well-being.
