The 58th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle is scheduled for January 25, showcasing the movement’s growth into a popular initiative embraced by people across regions and communities. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will lead this week’s edition in Karaikal, Puducherry, emphasizing the government’s focus on fitness and active lifestyles.

In line with the Prime Minister’s call for youth-led nation-building, National Voters’ Day celebrations this year will highlight the importance of voting and democracy, inspired by the PM’s address to the youth. The campaign #MYBharatMYVote will be celebrated under the theme ‘Young Voters of Viksit Bharat,’ integrating fitness, youth participation, and democratic values.

The event will move from the southern coast to Attari near Amritsar, marking a symbolic stop as part of National Voters’ Day and on the eve of Republic Day. The Amritsar edition will bring together the Central Armed Police Forces, young voters, and notable figures like Olympian boxer Nikhat Zareen and cricketer Siddharth Kaul to promote fitness and democratic values.

Fit India Sundays on Cycle aims to unite sportspersons, youth, and celebrities in promoting a fit nation and a strong democracy. The presence of eminent athletes and public figures at Amritsar will further boost the #MYBharatMYVote campaign, encouraging young citizens to vote and adopt healthy lifestyles.

The 58th edition will also witness Fit India Ambassadors from across the country actively participating and urging citizens to join Sundays on Cycle and celebrate National Voters’ Day. The initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement, with social media platforms abuzz with messages and videos promoting fitness and youth engagement.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the link between fitness and democracy, stating that a healthy democracy relies on informed and active citizens. Fit India Sundays on Cycle will celebrate the spirit of young voters of Viksit Bharat, encouraging youth to embrace fitness and their role as responsible voters.

Adding a new chapter, the initiative will be hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee for the first time, showcasing the movement’s expansion to educational institutions. Dr. Mandaviya highlighted how Sundays on Cycle has become a people’s movement, uniting citizens across regions and backgrounds in promoting active living.

Sundays on Cycle, launched in December 2024, has become a flagship initiative of the Fit India Movement, engaging over 25 lakh citizens across two lakh locations nationwide. The event promotes cycling as a sustainable and inclusive form of physical activity, fostering a culture of fitness and environmental consciousness.

The Fit India Movement, initiated in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to make fitness a part of daily life and promote a physically active lifestyle.
