Fitness enthusiast Ankita Konwar has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the challenging English Channel Relay Swim. She shared her accomplishment on Instagram, becoming the first Assamese woman and the first woman from North East India to achieve this feat. Battling freezing waters, strong tides, and unpredictable currents, Ankita reached the French coast as part of a six-member international relay team. She expressed gratitude to her husband Milind Soman for his unwavering support during her journey.
Ankita fulfilled a personal promise by swimming the English Channel in a relay, marking a remarkable achievement. Reflecting on her journey, she highlighted the significance of the 100th year celebration of Gertrude Ederle’s historic channel crossing. Ankita’s determination led her to become the first Assamese woman to complete the relay swim, setting her sights on a solo swim in the future. She expressed immense pride in her progress since learning to swim three years ago and thanked Milind Soman for his exceptional support.
In her post, Ankita extended gratitude to those who played pivotal roles in her journey, including her coach who stood by her through challenges and setbacks. She acknowledged her coach’s unwavering belief in her abilities, especially during her recovery from an injury earlier in the year.
