The Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has officially acknowledged the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) as India’s top professional volleyball league before Season 5 kicks off on November 30. The Season 5 Player Auction is set for August 17 in Goa, where franchises will pick their squads from India’s top volleyball players, gearing up for an anticipated competitive season. Clubs in the Prime Volleyball League will now have the opportunity to compete in international tournaments organized by the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), and FIVB club events, adhering to the stipulated regulations and qualification criteria.
Tuhin Mishra, Director of the Prime Volleyball League, expressed, “Season 5 signifies a pivotal moment for the league. The FIVB recognition serves as a significant endorsement of the efforts invested over the past four years to establish a reputable, competitive, and globally significant league. Our primary focus remains on fortifying the ecosystem and providing substantial opportunities for Indian players to excel at the highest level.” Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO of the Prime Volleyball League, emphasized, “Our goal from the start has been to create a league that not only showcases sporting excellence but also has a lasting impact. This acknowledgment reaffirms that PVL is more than just a competition; it is a platform shaping the future of volleyball in India. The progress of Indian volleyball is evident, with the national team climbing from World No. 60 to World No. 42 in the FIVB rankings. We are enthusiastic about further enhancing the Indian volleyball landscape.”
