Police in Maharashtra’s Dongri acted swiftly, apprehending five individuals within 24 hours of a case being filed involving the kidnapping, wrongful confinement, assault, and humiliation of a 33-year-old man due to a financial disagreement. The victim, Sachin Ranpise, was allegedly held captive, threatened, and subjected to severe mental and physical abuse over a loan repayment issue. The incident occurred in Mumbai’s Dongri area, where the victim was allegedly held hostage and tortured following a dispute related to the loan repayment.
The victim had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from one of the accused but faced financial difficulties in repaying the amount on time, leading to a request for an extension. However, the accused demanded immediate repayment and subsequently conspired to kidnap and torture him. Sachin was forcibly confined in a lodge between June 8 and June 10, deprived of food and water, and repeatedly assaulted with a leather belt, causing injuries.
Upon managing to escape on June 11, the victim reported the incident to the Dongri Police Station, leading to an immediate investigation by the Crime Detection Team. Despite initial CCTV footage examination yielding inconclusive evidence, the police, with local intelligence inputs, successfully traced and apprehended all five accused in the Mazgaon area. The arrested individuals, identified as Abdullah Shaukat Bhusari, Junaid Qaymuddin Khan, Mohammad Saad Pathan, Arafat Hasham Khanani, and Sahil Shaikh, were found in possession of items allegedly used in the crime.
Further inquiries into the case are ongoing.
