The death toll from a tragic incident in Karnasubarna, West Bengal, where a train collided with a van at a railway crossing, has reached five. Among the deceased are four school children and one adult. The Railways department and the West Bengal government have both pledged compensation to the families of the victims.
The Railways is offering Rs 10 lakh to each bereaved family, while Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced Rs 5,00,000 for the kin of each deceased individual. The Chief Minister has taken to social media to express his directives for providing all necessary aid to the injured and affected families. Minister Gouri Sankar Ghosh is overseeing the situation at the hospital, with the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on-site.
Chief Minister Adhikari has emphasized the provision of top-notch medical care to the injured individuals. He assured that Health Minister Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee is personally overseeing the treatment of the injured at Baharampur Medical College and Hospital. The Chief Minister has vowed to investigate the incident thoroughly and promised strict action against those responsible for the negligence that led to the accident.
